Creative Re-Purposing: The perfect hiding spot

You may have noticed by now, I’m all about “hiding” things we use on a regular basis… and trying to creatively “re-purpose” items to serve a new purpose.

I found these two suitcase looking decorative boxes at Hobby Lobby then asked my husband to drill a hole in the back of each one.

Added an electrical cord…

Put it on my husbands side of the bed to hide his stuff.

During the day, everything is tucked away nice and neat and when it’s time for bed, he just pops open the little box and ta-da… all of his stuff is easily accessible.

We placed the other one in the laundry room…

We use it to hide the dust buster.

Do you use boxes in your house to “hide” things?

Please share… we would love to know!

July 4: Neighborhood Parade, Rain and Smores

We had high hopes for our neighborhood parade today.

Aunt Audie came to visit and helped Guapito decorate his bike.

Then we headed out to meet with the other neighbors to get the party started.

Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans

After drying off… we decided to punt…

Smores it is!

Life is good!!!

Even if it did rain on our parade.

Wow, where do I begin????  In the words of Guapito (my 3 year old son), “I’m so excited!”

For those of you who already know me, you know I absolutely love what I do.  I love helping others; teaching people skills that will help them to feel comfortable in social situations is what makes me tick.

For the past eight years ‘we’ (Ricardo, aka Guapo, helps me in the classroom) have been teaching manners, etiquette, social skills and dance to young people ranging from the 5th grade through high school.  It has grown into quite the undertaking as parents have asked that I work with their employees as well as speak to many different college classes and countless other organizations and groups.

I’m so excited to add this new chapter of ‘blogging’ to my life as I will be able to share stories, tips, tricks, and who-knows-what else.

I would love to hear from you, if you have etiquette questions, please send them my way…I will be honored to try and help.

For now, thanks for taking the time to read my ‘welcome’…I look forward to this new journey!

:-) Carey Sue

Disclaimer:  Before I dive off into the uncharted (for me, at least) world of blogging, I do want to make things clear from the beginning.  MY PASSION IS ETIQUETTE.  My actual college degree is in Recreation, not Journalism or English.  My writing may, at times, have some ‘grammatical’ issues, it also may have some ‘punctuation’ fouls, but for the most part, I think it’s okay and ‘readable’.  I hope you enjoy reading what I have to write as much as I enjoy writing it!
